Kej and Holly hop out of her car to help the man - a very hot and sexy man - pick up his flyers. The bright red posters fluttered away in the light breeze but the trio was able to gather about half before the rest became a lost cause. Afterwards they stand around and chat a bit - Holly formally introduces Chaz to Kej and vice versa.
Chaz immediately launches into a big spiel about how much the factory means to his family and how he had always planned to take over the family business but unless something changed soon all would be lost and blah. blah, blah - Kej honestly didn’t hear very much about what he was saying because she was too busy being mesmerized by his sexiness and small-town-boyish-features. She had heard of this effect before from other coworkers that went home for Christmas and never returned, but she can hardly believe the rumours were true, let along that one was standing in front of her.
Kej snaps back to the present moment when Holly tells Chaz that Kej is the one she’s been telling him about - then promptly leaves the two of them alone. Kej internally rolls her eyes and makes a note to self to yell at Holly later, before flashing Chaz the best smile she can. She then launches into a nuanced explanation as to why she can’t just simply save the factory because it would put her big city job and promotion at risk and blah, blah, blah - honestly Chaz didn’t hear much of what she had to say until the end when she apologized for not being able to help.
He shoots back that Holly told him she used to care about the town and that without her it would die.
He takes off right as Holly reappears, handing Kej a hot chocolate. She watches Chaz go and sips the drink - goddamn the town makes even better HC than they do Christmas envelopes.
Holly asks what happened…
Kej spills the beans to Holly, telling her she thinks she might be in love with Chaz? Also he asked for her help, and she feels conflicted because to help him would mean risking everything she’s worked so hard for.
Kej brushes Holly off, and asks for a ride back to the train station. She can’t help and needs to get back to the big city where she belongs.
